Music Copyright
If I had my way.

I am all for copyright. After all it protects my original graphic arts and original music from theft and I appreciate that. On the other hand it can go too far when carried to the letter of an outdated law.

Actual CD recordings by popular stars etc.
Since most private websites have small numbers visiting in comparison to say a restaurant I would like to see an exemption from copyright restrictions if the owner puts background music on their site after having bought the CD from which it was copied.
The owner would be responsible for making this music secure and non downloadable.
By the way: Restaurants are allowed radio music free but must pay royalties if using records or CDs. I guess that's where the jukeboxes went.

Midi Music
A midi sequencer should be able to sequence a song from sheet music or from listening to the recording. The sequencer's own interpretation and the fact that it is non vocal makes it different from the original but I believe that it should only be used on a web page if accompanied by the name of the original artist, composer and recording company with links.

I would like to see all web pages with midi music on them give credit for the music without exception. This would mean that someone hearing it would know to look for the credit to learn more and use it themselves.

And finally I would like to see the midi sequencer paid a handsome sum for his/her work. lol

Naturally I don't expect any of this to happen because those of us using music on web pages are just far too small a group to have any lobbying power but I can always dream.
